Assistant Accountant – Property & Construction job with APAC Michael Page

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a driven and aspiring Assistant Accountant to join a leading Property Development and Construction who deliver a diverse range of projects across Australia.

Client Details

Our client is a leading Australian Property Development and Construction company, with approximately 200 employees and and offices based in multiple locations across Australia. Our client provide services and expertise in all sectors of the Property market including funds management, project development, design, construction and refurbishments.

This role will work closely with the Financial Accountant and report directly to the Financial Controller who is renowned for being supportive, highly knowledgeable and a great mentor. The role will be based in their impressive offices in the heart of Sydney CBD.


The key responsibilities will include the following:

  • Support with month end processes including bank reconciliations, journals, accruals, prepayments, depreciation and review of the general ledger accounts/trial balance
  • Assist with the preparation of FBT and BAS returns
  • Assist with cash flow reporting and tracking
  • Assist with AP/AR related tasks including raising invoices and responding to account queries
  • Reconciliation of intercompany loans, Work in Progress and suspense accounts
  • Being involved in training of junior staff member
  • Make a positive contribution to the wider team and reinforce and build the Company culture


The successful applicant will possess the following credentials:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Studying towards CPA/CA qualification or enrolled onto program
  • 2 years experience in a similar role and experience with AP/AR tasks
  • Prior experience in Property and Construction preferred but not essential
  • Prior experience with JobPac preferred but not essential
  • Detail orientated
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Team player and able to work autonomously and effectively as part of a team
  • Diligent and hard working
  • Willing to work in the office full time – this is not a Hybrid role as it is an entry level position where supervision and training are required
  • Positive can-do attitude
